It’s back, and there are even more games!
What festive treats will you find – it’s time for Fanatical’s next big bundle, and this time, it’s a mystery!
The Fanatical Winter Mystery Bundle is the go-to place to warm up your Steam library with a selection of fantastic AAA and Indie titles. Using the slider, you can choose between one ($1) and 10 games ($6.99) that are randomly selected.
From a little as one dollar, you could bag yourself a wintry wonder. Will you get an award-winner, a game from a blockbuster movie franchise, or a critically-acclaimed title… who knows!
What’s in the Winter Mystery Bundle?
This post is regarding my second purchase of the Winter Mystery Bundle via Fanatical. Some people may not like bundles where they don’t know what they’re going to get, but I think it’s a fun surprise.
If you have a ton of games, you’ll probably get duplicates. That’s just the way it goes, and my second purchase here was no different. I do get a few duplicates that I’d acquired from the first bundle I purchased.
Let’s get into it.
Game List:
Pankapu Complete Edition | Injustice Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition | Gauntlet Slayer Edition | Galaxy Squad | The Kings Bird | Demolish and Build 2017 | Fahrenheit Indigo Prophecy Remastered | Earthworms | Figment | Distrust

Pankapu Complete Edition
Jump into a neo-retro adventure with Pankapu : a taste of 90’s platformers in an oneiric world. Pankapu is a narrative action-platformer that takes place in the dreams of Djaha’rell, a child troubled by a tragic incident. Upgrade your skills, find new competencies, switch your Aegis in real time in order to get rid of Nightmare’s invasion: “Fight for the safety of your land, dear Dreamkeeper”
Told in the manner of a fable read to a child, the game has two levels of reading: the tale of Pankapu, epic and naïve, and the one about Djaha’rell’s life, in the real-world, dark and tragic.
I try so hard to not judge a game by its name, but if it sounds outlandish or not well thought-out, I don’t get engaged. Pankapu is a weird title, and I really wasn’t sure what I’d be getting into.
Looking at the description and the graphics, I’m so happy I was able to get this game in the bundle. It looks like a lot of fun, and the whole visual appeal is right up my alley.
Injustice Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition
Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition enhances the bold new franchise to the fighting game genre from NetherRealm Studios. Featuring six new playable characters, over 30 new skins, and 60 new S.T.A.R. Labs missions, this edition packs a punch. In addition to DC Comics icons such as Batman, The Joker, Green Lantern, The Flash, Superman and Wonder Woman, the latest title from the award-winning studio presents a deep original story. Heroes and villains will engage in epic battles on a massive scale in a world where the line between good and evil has been blurred.
The name is definitely recognizable, but I couldn’t really remember what exactly it was about. I teetered on the idea of superheroes…something like Batman or some such.
Well, it turns out I wasn’t too far off.
Although, I’m not a fan of fighting games, so I don’t know how this game will turn out with me. I’m not sure if there’s actually a storyline to follow, or if it’s just one of those battle against another character type of ordeals.
Gauntlet Slayer Edition
The classic Gauntlet 4-player co-op action gameplay returns in a completely new experience! Play as one of four distinct heroes in an intense monster filled dungeon brawler with a combination of both uniquely built and randomly generated levels to explore. Battle the endless hordes of foes as you and your friends fight for treasure and glory via both local and online co-op multiplayer. Invade the Darkness!
Oh man, a co-op game. These games are so iffy with me, because, let’s face it, most of the time they’re more fun to play when it’s with a friend.
However, upon looking at it, it doesn’t look like it’d be too bad of a playthrough as a single-player choice.
It begs to be seen.
Galaxy Squad
Galaxy squad is turn-based tactical game, in which you are leading a squad of mercenaries through randomly generated galaxy with different events.
The game combines node-based exploration with random events, similar to games like FTL or Renowned Explorers, with hardcore tactical battles, inspired by XCOM series. All your characters are randomly generated, and you can evolve them however you want, creating ultimate crew.
I’m not a fan of sci-fi games. I make a point to say this whenever one happens to pop up. Galaxy Squad doesn’t seem like the average travel through space, shoot aliens, do intergalactic cartwheels through a black hole type of game, though. It’s turn based, and it has an interesting look to it.
Keep in mind, I know I don’t say this often, but I judge a game by the screenshots, not a preview trailer or anything like that.
So I could be completely wrong about the cartwheels thing.
The Kings Bird
Flight · Flow · Freedom
Escape into a world kept secret by a tyrant, and discover the truth about your freedom. The King’s Bird is an artistic, momentum-based game that seamlessly combines precision-platforming with physics-based gliding.
Well the synopsis/description doesn’t give me much to go on, but damn do I love the color scheme on some of the levels you get to go through. The layouts sort of remind me of the game speedrunners?
I added a question mark because I’ve never played the game, only watched others.
In any case, some of these levels look tedious, and it makes me wonder how the whole “flight” ordeal works.
Demolish and Build 2017
Become a boss of Demolition & Build company. Destroy small wooden huts and huge concrete buildings. Manage your workers. Invest earned cash in your own land properties and rent them for profit in open sandbox world. Use various hand tools, buy new machines and customize their parts.
Y’know…I don’t know.
Maybe I’ll like this game.
I’ll get to destroy shit after all, and then build it from the ground up, seemingly? I think the last building type of game play was either Roller Coaster Tycoon from years ago, or a Zoo Tycoon.
Either way, games have evolved a bit from those days, and looking at the screenshots, I’ll take a chance to say I may have some fun with this one.
I just don’t really know what I’d be building.
Fahrenheit Indigo Prophecy Remastered
Guilt is a Chilling Feeling…
Originally released in 2005, Fahrenheit (known as Indigo Prophecy in North America) was a breakthrough in interactive narrative, teetering between the worlds of cinema and gaming while also embracing them, carving its own unique genre in the entertainment landscape. This newly remastered edition features updated graphics, controller support AND is based on the uncut/uncensored international version of the game.
This is a duplicate game I’ve already acquired from the first of Fanatical’s Winter Mystery Bundle I bought. Which means it’ll be tossed into a giveaway in the future.
Earthworms
You play as private detective named Daniel White, who is endowed with parapsychic abilities. Visions that he gets, help him to solve investigations. At first glance, the case that you are part of is about missing teenage girl who’s from small fishing village. With every next location, you will experience more and more weird situations and discover that everything is leading to big global conspiracy. If you think that is only summer walk through fishing village, you are wrong. This is an epic adventure which will blow your mind.
This is another duplicate game that I first acquired from my initial purchase of the Winter Mystery Bundle. Expect to see a giveaway on this game in the future.
Figment
Figment is an action-adventure game that invites you to explore a unique surreal universe filled with music, humor and multi layered narrative. Join Dusty and his ever-optimistic friend, Piper, on an adventure through the different sides of the mind seeking to restore the courage that’s been lost.
I believe I tried to obtain access to this game through another site that allows you to play games to grant them exposure–through means of streaming–and I’m not sure I got it for Steam–meaning I accidentally chose a platform I didn’t have.
In saying that, this is a definite must-have for me. I love the art style, and I believe it’s a point and click type of game? It looks like it, but it also looks like there’s some combat as well.
The chunks of land reminds me of a Bastion type of layout, though nothing else is reminiscent of it.
Distrust
A helicopter crash left a group of explorers stranded near an Arctic base. As they try to find a way back, all they are doing is sinking deeper into a nightmare scenario. When they sleep, they attract a terrifying force that sucks the life out of their bodies, but the longer they battle exhaustion and stay awake, the less likely they are to survive…
As the survivors try to sleep just enough to stave off fatigue without dying, they slowly go mad and eventually reach the point where they can no longer trust their senses. In time, they can’t even tell the difference between reality and a hallucination.
I never thoroughly looked into the actual description of this game–I only know it sort of looked something like Beholder. I don’t think it’s too terribly much like that game, however.
Some reviews have said it’s more of a manage-your-resources type of game, and that it’s also available as co-op, which probably means the game is better with more than just you playing it.
In any case, it’s been high on my wishlist for a while. I’m happy I snagged it.
