Alicia Quatermain: Secrets of the Lost Treasures, beat the bad guys to find the good guys, as well as some pretty artifacts for your bare office.

[/vc_column_text][vc_message icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-steam-square”]Purchased: I bought this game on IndieGala, in a Jetdogs Studio bundle.
Achievements: Yes
DLC: Nope[/vc_message][vc_column_text]I didn’t know how this game was going to play out, but it was very interesting for someone who’s never tried to, not necessarily beat a timer, but beat numerous time management levels.

If many people played this game, it would become very competitive on who could be better. But after playing a lot of the levels, I think the only “people” whose scored were being compared to mine were the AI. So I don’t actually know if they combine other peoples’ scores with yours. It doesn’t seem like it.

Was definitely fun to play, if not a little hectic trying to keep track of everything.[/vc_column_text][vc_message message_box_color=”warning”]This post has affiliate links within it, which means if you happen to make a purchase or go to said link I may earn a small commission with no extra charge thrown your way.[/vc_message][vc_zigzag color=”peacoc”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Navigation

Here we have a very linear game, because you can’t progress forward without finishing a level. You can always go back and change the difficulty to do a level again. The game will tell you if you’ve finished a level on easy. If so, you can’t earn stars, but you can still continue to the next level.[/vc_column_text][vc_message message_box_color=”juicy_pink” icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-youtube”]While I didn’t stream this over on Twitch, I did make a YouTube playlist of Alicia Quatermain. I was hoping I’d have enough to say while doing the levels, because they were attention-demanding. But you can see for yourself![/vc_message][vc_zigzag color=”peacoc”][vc_column_text]

Graphics

We’ve got some fun looking artwork in this game, and not only in the little cutscenes we get, but also on the puzzles you’re capable of doing (if you find all of an island’s puzzle pieces in each level).

Within the actual puzzles, the graphics are well-done. You can tell what’s what, though sometimes there’s almost too much going on and I couldn’t figure out the location of my happy helpers’ tent.

Not sure if they could’ve done anything regarding that, because sometimes you have to have more to amp up the difficulty.

The game will give you bonuses of desktop wallpapers if you want to use them–unfortunately they didn’t work out of me because of all the crap I’ve got littered on my desktop.

The wallpapers having a bar on the top and on the bottom. If they didn’t have that, then they’d probably be fine.[/vc_column_text][vc_zigzag color=”peacoc”][vc_column_text]

Gameplay

You’ve got a relatively easy game here, but it has a lot of elements to it.

As Easy mode, you don’t have much to worry about. You can do each area without bothering to look at a timer, because it’s not there. Basically, you can do a level in easy, learn the layout of it, then do it in another harder mode for a 3-star. It’s pretty easy to cheat that system.

However, the only reward you’ll get from mastering 3-stars on a level is a kind of artifact or object to put into your office, which starts completely bare.

Hard mode and up is a little more difficult, but not by much. I think there was only one moment where I ran out of time for a 3-star, but I was literally on the cusp of it. So you do have to manage things well in order to get above the timer.

You do have things to choose from that’ll help–requesting aid from another helper, freezing time, etc.

There’s just so many little things.

Don’t get me started on finding those hidden puzzle pieces in every level. If you get all of them on an island you’ll unlock the puzzle, which then unlocks a secret level to play as the bad guys.

It’s a cool concept, but I had no idea about it until I looked on Steam regarding an achievement.[/vc_column_text][vc_message message_box_color=”success” icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-video-camera”]As stated above, I did stream this for my YouTube channel, and the way that I streamed it is with Streamlabs OBS (otherwise known as SLOBS). I use this software for both Twitch and YouTube, and it’s completely free. If you’re interested in any kind of streaming, I’d highly recommend.[/vc_message][vc_zigzag color=”peacoc”][vc_column_text]

Audio

I love this game’s audio. It’s so upbeat and adventurous and it fits in perfectly with the theme of the gameplay. It has also a very heroic type of musical beat. It spurs you on to actually beat the game. As if it’s saying “You can do it!”[/vc_column_text][vc_zigzag color=”peacoc”][vc_column_text]

Overall

A personal qualm: There’s no reward for completely completing the game. You don’t have to get 3-stars on every single level, nor complete all the side areas.

You can stop this game without fully playing it, specifically, and I don’t think that is a good idea if you want someone to full finish it. We need a reward to continue to the end. Otherwise, there’s no reason for us to.

Aside from that, it may seem like a lot to do on screen, but it’s all relatively easy. There weren’t too many spots I personally struggled on.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
